Danny Earl Davis of Greenville, SC, and formerly of McColl, SC, passed away tragically on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the age of 60.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Rogers Funeral Home in McColl with the Rev. Donald Deal officiating. Interment will be in Beaver Dam Cemetery at a later date.
On December 8, 1955 Danny was born in Marlboro County, SC to the late John William (JW) Davis and the late Lola Hodge Davis Johnson and was raised by his maternal grandmother, the late Allie Hyatt Hodge. He was graduate of McColl High School (class of 1977) and a veteran of the US Navy. He was a poet and a sketch artist and he loved hanging out with his friends around the grill, cooking out and having a good time. Danny also volunteered with the adult literacy program, helping to teach people to read.
In addition to his parents and the grandmother who raised him, he was preceded in death by a sister, Millie Hodge Strom.
To cherish his memory he leaves with us two brothers, Michael Davis and wife Glenda of Kernersville, NC and William “Billy” Johnson of Fayetteville, NC; a sister, Wendi Johnson Vrba and husband Raymond of Fayetteville, NC; three nieces, Jennifer Ellen Strom of Southern Pines, NC, Erica Nicole Davis of Kernersville, NC, and Alexis Raya Vrba of Fayetteville, NC, and a brother-in-law, David Lewis Strom of Rockingham, NC, as well as a host of friends who will miss him.
