Dorothy Jordan Ransom journeyed home Tuesday morning, July 26, 2016 and joined her husband, Ed, who’s been waiting for her since last year.  At the age of 76 she passed away at her home in McColl, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Friday, July 29, 2016 at the McColl Pentecostal Holiness Church in McColl with Rev. Mark Lampley officiating.  Interment will follow at Rogers Cemetery.  The family will welcome friends and neighbors just prior to the service, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, also at the church on Friday.  In the meantime, the family will be receiving friends at the home at 217 N. Marlboro St. in McColl.

Dorothy Annette Jordan Ransom was one of six children born to the late Brenson Jordan and the late Ruby Pope Jordan.  She was born on Sunday, March 24, 1940 in Bennettsville, SC.  Dorothy spent many years working as a machine operator in the textile industry at Talon in Bennettsville and more recently she was a homemaker.  John Wayne was her favorite actor and she watched his westerns over and over.  She loved to cook and she loved shopping and she collected angel what-nots and figurines.  But, like all good grandmothers, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her the twinkle in her eyes.  They were her true joy on this earth.

In addition to her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ed Ransom, Jr (2015); three sons, Richard “Ricky” Allen Ransom (2009), Robert “Bobby” Charles Ransom (2010), and Ed “Eddie” Ransom, III (2003); two brothers, James Franklin Jordan and Brenson Gene Jordan, and a sister, Marilyn “Ruth” Grubb.

To cherish her memories she leaves behind a son, Richard Kevin Ransom and wife Martiza of Laurel Hill, NC; twin daughters, Connie Ransom Clark and husband Tony and Bonnie Ransom Green, and husband Phillip, all of McColl; two brothers, Edward Jordan of the Upstate of SC and Charles Jordan of Bennettsville, SC; a former daughter-in-law, Linda Lewellen; two long-time friends, Ms. Bonnie Hatcher and Mrs. Joyce Jackson; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, as well as an entire community of nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors who will miss her deeply.
