Mr. Ed Ransom, Jr., 86, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the McColl Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by the Rev. Mark Lampley. Burial will follow with military honors at Rogers Cemetery. A visitation will be held at from 6:00 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Rogers Funeral Home.
Born, July 19, 1928 in Marlboro County, SC, he was son of the late E.D. Ransom, Sr., and the late Rosie Campbell Ransom. He attended McColl Pentecostal Holiness Church as long as his health allowed him to. Mr. Ransom served his country proudly during the Korean War in the United States Army, and worked in maintenance for twenty years at Emerson Electric and five years with Marley Electric. He enjoyed NASCAR with his favorite drivers being Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Richard Petty. Mr. Ransom has a green thumb and loved planting flowers. He also liked country music, cowboy boots, and loved to dress up.
Along with his parents, listed above, he was preceded in death by his sons, Robert Charles Ransom, Ed Ransom, III, and Richard Allen Ransom; a brother, Walter F. “Bud” Ransom; sisters, Josie Barnette, and Gladys Myers; and a grandson, Robert Charles Ransom, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy J. Ransom of the home; a son Richard Kevin Ransom of Laurel Hill, NC; daughters, Bonnie Ann Green (Phillip) of McColl, and Connie Ann Clark (Tony) of McColl; fifteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.
