Mr. George “Tommy” Wilson Odom, Sr. passed away, Wednesday, July 19,2017, at Cheraw Healthcare. He was 74 years old.
Born June 23, 1943 in Bennettsville, SC. He was a son of the late George and Mary Chavis Odom. He was a graduate of McColl High School. He attended the McColl Church of God. He served in the US Navy. He was a member of American Legion post #60. He was a former police chief of McColl and retired from Evans State Prison. He was an avid hunter and fisherman especially squirrels and rabbit hunting and bass fishing. He loved classic westerns and country music. He enjoyed riding through the country in McColl, but most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by; his wife, Dianne Lowery Odom of Tatum; sons, George Odom, Jr. (Danielle) of McColl, Kenneth Odom (Amber) of McColl; daughter, Patricia Farmer (Kelly) of Wilson, NC; sister, Betty “Bett” J. Cooper of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Mekayla Brewer, Gabrielle Odom, Mia Odom, Kayla Farmer, Gracie Farmer, Dylan Farmer.
He is preceded in death by; his parents listed above; his step-father Wilbert Byrd; brother, James “Jim” H. Odom; sister, Shirley Rasberry Proffitt.
A funeral service will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, July 22, 2017, at McColl Church of God with burial in Rogers cemetery with military honors. A visitation will be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm just prior to the service at the church.
