  Mr. Jerry Wayne Jones, Sr., age 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at the Morrison Manor in Laurinburg, NC, after an illness, surrounded by his loving family.

  Born in McColl, SC, on February 26, 1943, he was the son of the late James H. Jones and Clara Crowley Jones. He was a graduate of McColl High School and was of the Baptist faith.  He was a former member of the McColl Fire Department (8 years), a former dispatcher for the county jail, was a former maintenance supervisor with Marley Electric, and worked as a milk deliver for Sealtest. Following in his father's footsteps, he served and protected his community as a police officer for the town of McColl and Clio.  He served on the McColl School Board for many years, coached Little League T-Ball, and enjoyed watching old westerns. He was a loving father, dedicated to his children and he enjoyed watching his oldest son Chris play football during his school years. Jerry was an avid NFL fan and his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who could always make you smile.  He was a lover of animals, and would always take his late canine friend “Peanut” for a morning ride.

  He is survived by his loving wife, Viola Locklear Jones of their home; by sons, Thomas C. Locklear (Frances), Wayne Jones, Jr. (Janice), David Glenn  Jones (Becky) all of McColl and Jerry Hunt (Sherri) of Rockingham, NC; by daughters, Kathy Roller (Phillip) of Hartsville and Crystal Jones Parker (Ronald) of Blenheim; by grandchildren, Tiffany Locklear (Jack) of McColl, Danielle Jones (George) of McColl, Katelyn Jones of Florence, Jessica Norris (Michael),  Heather Roller all of Hartsville, Deanna Jones, Anthony Jones (Caitlin) of McColl, Shane Britt of Laurinburg, NC, Nikki Cantwell of Simpsonville, SC, Damien Cantwell of McColl, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Cameron all of Rockingham, NC, David Parker (Gabrielle) of Dillon and Dustin Parker (Amanda) of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Gage, Ava, Mekayla, Gabrielle, Cateleya, Abbrey, Braylen, Trent Owen, Aubri, and Aidan; by a brother, Jimmy Jones (Linda) of Bennettsville; by sisters, Geraldine Moore (Carroll) Moore of Concord, NC, Vickie Crump of Concord, NC, Linda Martian and Muriel Outlaw both of McColl.

  Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Rogers Funeral Home with burial following at Rogers Cemetery. The Rev.’s Rogers Williams and Donald Deal will officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8P.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Rogers Funeral Home.

  Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents listed above; by brothers, William Jones and James Vernon “Tinker” Jones; by sisters, Sylvia Murphy, Joyce Janet Jones Walden and Vivian Elizabeth Benton; and by a brother-in-law, Jerome Martian, Sr.
