   Mrs. Linda Gayle Freeman Chavis, age 63, beloved widow of the late Hubert R. Chavis, Sr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving and devoted family.

   Born in Bennettsville, SC on June 16, 1953, she was the daughter of Helen Haney Freeman and the late John Lite Freeman, Sr. She was a homemaker and a former daycare owner. She was a faithful Christian lady that dedicated her life to loving and caring for others, especially her family.  She attended the McColl Pentecostal Holiness Church as often as her health would allow. She received her Master of Divinity Degree from Grace Tabernacle. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and above all a faithful servant of her Lord. She enjoyed talking on the phone with friends, shopping, spending time with her family and taking trips to the beach. She wanted to see souls saved and she wanted everyone to get along together.

   She is survived by her loving daughters, Rebecca Chavis Jones and husband Glenn of McColl and Jenny Fairchild and husband Jason of Oregon; a son, Hubert R. Chavis, Jr. and wife Monique of Oregon; her mother, Helen Haney Freeman of Bennettsville; sisters, Agnes Sturdivant and husband Ed of Laurinburg, NC, Bobbie Jean Davis and husband Kenny of Hope Mills, NC and Sandy Freeman Patterson of Maxton, NC; also by 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the McColl Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial following at 2:00 P.M. at the Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the McColl Pentecostal Holiness Church.

   Mrs. Linda was preceded in death by her father and husband of 43 years listed above; and by a brother, John Lite Freeman, Jr.
