  Mr. Charles Franklin Oxendine, age 69, affectionately known as "Corn", passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence after an illness.

  Born in McColl, SC, on December 2, 1946, he was the son of the late James Angus Oxendine and Melissie Locklear Oxendine. He was a graduate of McColl High School, was of the Methodist Faith, and was formerly employed as a Forklift Operator with West Point Stevens in Wagram, NC. He enjoyed his work, watching baseball games on T.V., was an avid NASCAR fan. Charles was always willing to help others in need and will be greatly missed by those he helped and by his loved ones.

  He is survived by his brother, Malery Oxendine (Patsy) of Laurinburg, NC; by a sister, Annette Shao (John) of New Jersey; also by a host of other relatives and friends.

  Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Berea United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Priest Cemetery. The Rev. Emily Davis will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Rogers Funeral Home.

 

  He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; by a brother, James Angus Oxendine, Jr.; and by 5 sisters, Blanche Bullard, Etta Bowen, Bertha Locklear, Georgia Ella Locklear and Alma Oxendine.
