Mr. Russell Edward Williams, Sr., age 61, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Marlboro County, SC, on July 17, 1955, he was the son of the late Edward Williams and Gladys Housand Norris. He was a 1975 graduate of McColl High School, member of the McColl Church of God and a convenience store clerk. He served 12 years as the commissioner of the McColl Recreation Department and was a lifelong die-hard Atlanta Braves fan. He enjoyed watching T.V. and riding around his beloved town of McColl on his scooter.
He is survived by his sons, Russell E. Williams, Jr. (Liza) of McColl and James Andrew Williams (Brandy) of Bennettsville; a daughter, Emma R. Williams of the home in McColl; a brother, James F. Norris (Delia) of Alexis, NC; by sisters, Edna (Tina Baby) Oliver, Elizabeth Johnson (Walker), Virginia Williams, Mary Locklear and Margalene Lee all of McColl; by 4 grandchildren, Winter Williams, Enara Ingram, Jonathan Ingram, Jr. “Deuce” and Kyle Williams; also by a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the McColl Church of God with burial following at Rogers Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Roy Puckett and Rev. Donald Deal will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-3P.M. at the church prior to the service.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents listed above; by sisters, Eunice Neal, Betty Driggers and Shelby Grooms; and by brothers, Bill and Floyd Williams.
