Mrs. Barbara Martha Bell Gainey Alford, age 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Cheraw Healthcare surrounded by her loving family and under the tender care of Hospice of Chesterfield County.

Born in Ruby, SC, on March 21, 1941 she was the daughter of the late Merton and Sadie Linton Gainey. She was a graduate of Bennettsville High School and enjoyed worshipping at both the Oak Hill Church of God and the Ghio Church of God. She enjoyed riding her 3- wheel bicycle, taking walks through her beloved town of McColl, SC, and picking and shelling peas. She was a master seamstress and enjoyed dancing with her son Larry.  Barbara was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who took great pride in providing and caring for her family.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, 8 months, and 2 weeks, Lonnie E. Alford of McColl; a son, Larry Alford and his companion, Lisa Johnson of McColl; daughters, Yvonne Lohmeyer  and her husband, Bob of Wilton, Iowa and Renee Alford of McColl;  grandchildren, Bucky Aaron Alford, Elizabeth Elaine Alford, Larry Eugene Alford, Kelly Renee Alford, Sarah Lynn Alford, Samuel Luke Alford, Lisa Marie Alford, Allen Michael Scott, Brooke Marie Scott, Tony Locklear, Marquis Devon Johnson, Tara Lynn Brock, Tonya Lohmeyer, Tim Lohmeyer, Toni Rose Alford, Isham Matthew Smith and Sherry Marie McDowell; and by 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Rogers Funeral Home with burial following at Rogers Cemetery. The Rev. Terry Jordan will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 P.M. on Friday, October 14, 2016.

Pallbearers will be Robert Strickland, Terry Hayes, Brandon Butler, Luke Alford, Larry Eugene Alford and Allen Scott.

Mrs. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents listed above; a son, Jerome Kirkley Alford; a brother, Bobby Gainey; and by two sisters, Patsy Shelton and Sandra Deese.
