Mrs. Marie Elizabeth Rodgers Baucom passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg, NC. She was 88 years old.
Born May 6, 1928 in McColl, SC, Mrs. Baucom was a daughter of the late William D. Rodgers and Beulah Parrish Rodgers. She was a retired Post Master, serving the McColl community for 33 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McColl, where she was a former Sunday School Director, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, member of the Choir and Director of the Choir. Mrs. Baucom enjoyed working with puzzles and watching soap operas. When she was able, she enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. She loved her family and she loved the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph Daniel “J.D.” Baucom; brothers, W.D., Paul, James, and Chester Rodgers; sisters, Annie Pearl Douglas, Willie Mae Burroughs and Virginia Ricks.
Surviving are: her son, Ronald Eugene Baucom and wife Lori of Fairmont, NC; daughters, Denise Milligan and husband Willie of McColl, Bee Bee Green and husband Roy of Laurel Hill, NC; sisters, Ila B. Hubbard and husband Charles of McColl and Geraldine Scism and husband John of Bennettsville, and Catherine Marvin of Laurinburg, NC; grandchildren, Ronald Eugene Baucom, Jr. and wife Lynette, Marie Milligan, Charlie Milligan, and Aaron Green; and a great-grandchild, Amber Baucom.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of McColl, with visitation to follow the service at the church.
