Vivian Alford Stevens, formerly of McColl and most recently of Elizabethtown, KY, departed this earthly life Tuesday, May 23, 2016 at her home in the bluegrass state.  She was 70 years old. 

 

There will be a graveside service Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Rogers Cemetery in McColl at 4:00 PM with Pastor DJ Byrd officiating.  The family will receive friends and neighbors on Saturday, just prior to the service at Rogers Funeral Home from 3:00 – 3:45 PM.

 

Vivian was born on a Sunday, October 7, 1945 in Marlboro County, SC to the late Thurman Alford and the late Agnes Graham Alford.  The course of her life was set with the birth of her first child, Jeff, who was born with Downs Syndrome, and she would be his mother, unconditional best friend and constant companion for the rest of her days.  Vivian was married to a Vietnam veteran and was a military wife for 23 years.  She loved dancing and old time rock’n’roll, and especially Elvis Presley.  Vivian could also keep you up-to-date with FOX News and the political world. 

 

Vivian was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents.

 

Vivian’s memory will now be entrusted to her two sons, Harry “Jeff” Stevens of Elizabethtown, KY, and Richard “Richie” Stevens and wife Cassie of Jennerstown, PA; a daughter, Connie Stevens Jaco and husband Tom of Elizabethtown, KY; three brothers, Lonnie Alford and wife Barbara, Terry Alford and wife Wanda, and Tony Alford and wife Jackie, all of McColl, SC; a special cousin, Carolyn Gaddy, and a life-long friend, Judy Mixon of Florence, SC; seven grandchildren, and a host of nephews and nieces, friends and neighbors who will miss her deeply.
