Mr. Shaw D. Locklear, age 73,  affectionatley known as "Buddy",  passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at McLeod Medical Center-Dillon, after an illness surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Scotland County, NC on June 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Shaw Locklear and Sally Chavis Thompson. He served as a faithful  member and Elder Deacon at Pee Dee Chapel Baptist Church, was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and sang with the men's choir.  "Buddy" retired from the textile industry and was a former salesman with the McNair Town and Country Farm Hardware Store in Laurinburg, NC.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and sharing old stories from his childhood with family and friends.  He will be remembered as a wonderful Christian, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be remembered best by his great-grandson Avery for always giving him the best candy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Frances Locklear of their home in Clio; sons, Shaw "Bit" Locklear, Jr. (Elsie) and Richard  Locklear (Patty) both of Little Rock, SC;  eight grandchildren, Anya Locklear, Kim Moore, Barbara Oxendine, Heather Gratia who he raised as a daughter, Susie Gratia, Chrissy Gratia, Bo Gratia and Brian Gratia; 19 great-grandchildren; and by his Pastor, Russ Goins (Jackie) who he loved as a son.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Pee Dee Chapel Baptist Church in Clio with burial following in the church cemetery. Pastor Russ Goins will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 7-9P.M. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Rogers Funeral Home in McColl.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; by a son, Timothy Matthew Locklear; a brother, Willie James Thompson; and by a sister, Barbara Ellen Thompson.
