Deborah Ann “Deb” Ellis Lewellen, age 69 of McColl, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, after an illness.
Deb was born on April 8, 1954, in Bennettsville. She was a daughter of the late James W. and Gladys Hyatt Ellis. She was also known as Nanny Deb or Ma Deb. Deb worked for many years at Essex Wire and Anvil Knitwear. She was a fun-loving person. Deb had a contagious smile, and a personality to match it. There was never a dull moment with Deb. She had a big heart of gold. Deb would do anything for anyone. She enjoyed spending time with her family, who she loved very much. She also had a special love for her Fur baby, Pennie, and her Fur baby nephew, Thor.
In addition to her parents, Deb was preceded in death by a son, Charles K. Leviner, Jr., and a sister, Vivian A. “Vib” Ellis.
Deb is survived by a daughter, Donna Springs Brooks of McColl; grandsons, Justin G. Brooks and Brandon L. Brooks, both of McColl; a great granddaughter, Maddyx Norton of Laurinburg, NC; siblings, Julia “Judy” Knight, James F. Ellis (Geraldine), Nicky Ellis, Tony R. Ellis (Judy), all of McColl, and Pamela Danford (John) of Laurinburg. NC; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 3 pm, at Eastside Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Roger Williams, burial will follow the service at the Ellis Family Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, just prior to the service, beginning at 2 pm at Eastside Baptist Church.
