Mr. Blanchard “Shorty” Locklear, 71, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at his home.

Born July 8, 1947 in Marlboro County, Blanchard was a son of the late Arthur & Ila Locklear.  He was the widower of Betty Caroline Locklear and was a carpenter by trade.

Blanchard was a member of the American Legion post #0172 and served the USARMY during the Vietnam War.  He was an avid reader and enjoyed going on Facebook, birdwatching, and watching westerns. In his younger years he enjoyed NASCAR, cooking BBQ and spending time with friends. He spent time with his sons, hunting, fishing, and teaching  the importance of work and being men.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory sons, Gerald Locklear & wife Elizabeth, Yates Locklear & wife Britton McGraw Locklear all of McColl; his brother Billy R. Locklear of Laurel Hill,NC; his sisters Patsy Locklear, Bonnie McCall & husband Harold of McColl, Blanche Locklear & husband Wayne, & Betty Cooper all of Laurinburg, NC; grandchildren, Ila Locklear, Yates Locklear, Jr., Jacob Locklear, Jared Locklear, Bryce Locklear, Jayford Clark, Andrew Currie, & Emerson McGraw; great-grandchild, Morgan C. Locklear;   sisters-in-law, Sue Locklear, Wanda Strickland, Audrey Locklear, and brothers in law Clyde Locklear, Elmore Locklear and William (Christine) & and a host of nieces and nephews both natural and adopted. .

Blanchard was also preceded in death by a brother, Blease Locklear; & a sister, Bobbie Locklear, and a son Gene Locklear.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, August 13, 2018 at Berea United Methodist Church followed by burial in Locklear Lane Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Rogers Funeral Home.
