Mr. Charles Leary Haithcock “Rooster” passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 peacefully at his residence after a brief illness. He was 92 years old.
Mr. Rooster was born in Clio, SC on December 15, 1926 to the late Leary and Corrie Lee Freeman Haithcock. He attended McColl Church of God for over 25 plus years. He was a founding member of the McColl Volunteer Rescue Squad from 1964-1979. Mr. Rooster was married to the love of his life Mrs. Patsy for 53 years. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball, football, and basketball. He was an avid Duke Blue Devils and Washington Redskins fan. He loved to work in his garden, he loved his flowers and growing tomatoes. He also loved spending time with his family, and most of all he loved his Lord.
He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory wife, Patsy Haithcock; granddaughters, Courtney Freeman of McColl and Brandi Haithcock of Bennettsville; great granddaughters, Destiney Douglas and Aaliyah Pegues both of McColl; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; son, Stevie Haithcock; brother, Delton Robert Haithcock; sister, Olive Haithcock Lutz.
A funeral service will be held 4 pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at McColl Church of God, with burial at Rogers Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Dr. Roy Puckett and Rev. Robert Goins. A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at McColl Church of God.
