Mr. Elbert “Big Pop” Williams, 70, passed away April 16, 2019 at Scottish Pines nursing home in Laurinburg, NC.
Born November 5, 1948 in Marlboro County to the late John C. & Ruth White Williams. Mr. Elbert worked as a mechanic at McColl cotton gin and farmed most of his life. He was of Pentecostal Holiness by faith. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in the garden, walking through the town of McColl talking to his buddies, fishing, spending time with his family and driving his tractor. Most of all he loved watching NASCAR and his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt, Sr.
Mr. Elbert leaves behind to cherish his memory: his companion of 19 years Lillian Chavis, of Laurinburg, NC; sons, John Christopher Emanuel of Laurinburg, Elbert Williams, Jr. of Laurinburg, Scott Anthony Willams (Sandy) of McColl; brothers, Gene Williams (Lib) of McColl; sisters, Betty Johnson of McColl; 13 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; a daughter, Julie Ann Williams; brothers, Tom Williams, Buddy Williams, J.C. Williams; sisters, Tina Clark, Geneva Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Rogers funeral home with burial to follow at Rogers cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service.
