Marion DuBose Spencer

McColl, SC

 Mr. Marion DuBose Spencer, 91, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017 at his residence. Born September 11, 1925 in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of the late DeLeon GoBert and Willie Alma Nolen Spencer.

He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He attended Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC and worked for the Biltmore Dairies. Upon his retirement, he moved from Charlotte to McColl, SC to pursue his real passion of farming. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, gardening, history, and trains. He always wanted to share his vegetables flowers with friends and neighbors.

Surviving are: his sons, John Spencer and wife Elaine of Midland, NC, Steven Spencer of Huntersville, NC; daughters, Patti Nance and husband James of Stanley, NC and Julie McCoy and husband Douglas of McColl; grandchildren, Robbie, Michael and Janet Spencer, Kyle and Allen McCoy; and 1 great grandchild, Joel Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Ann Snyder Spencer; brothers, Leon, Fred, Bill and Jake; sister, Brownlee; and niece, Angela.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Rogers Cemetery in McColl, with visitation to follow the service in the cemetery.
