 Mrs. Katherine Lucas Stanton, age 81, beloved widow of the late Everette Livingston Stanton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving daughters, while under the tender care of Hospice of South Carolina.

 Born in the Maxton community of Scotland County, NC, on March 18, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Lucas and Bertha Lee Black Lucas. She attended Bethel UMC in Bennettsville and retired as an Inspector, after many years of dedicated service with United Technologies in Bennettsville.

Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, sewing, traveling, baking cakes, taking pictures, and reading. She also enjoyed listening to the music of Elvis Presley, and visiting the towns of Gibson and Maxton, NC. She will always be remembered by those who knew her as a sweet lady who loved her family and friends.

 She is survived by two devoted daughters, Marie S. Sheppard and her husband James Lee Sheppard, Sr. of Cheraw and Beth Allen and her husband Ken of McColl; by a brother, Gary Joe Lucas and his wife Betty of Parkton, NC; by two sisters, Shelby Stubbs and her husband William of Gibson, NC and Margaret Hogan of Gibson, NC; by three grandchildren, Kenney Allen, Bryant Allen, and Jamie Sheppard; by three great-great grandchildren, Courtney Allen, Isabel Allen and Bryant Allen, Jr.; also by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

  Funeral Services will be held 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Rogers Funeral Home with burial following at Pinecrest Cemetery in Gibson, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the service time on Thursday at Rogers Funeral Home.
