Mrs. Rosalie Hoffman Sexton, age 91, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Morrison Manor Hospice Care Facility in Laurinburg, NC.
Born June 1, 1926 in Chesterfield County, she was the daughter of the late Henry McIver and Nettie Hodges Hoffman. She lived in Clio for about 55 years and had been employed with B.C. Moore’s Clothing Store for many years prior to her retirement. She was a faithful and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Clio, where she served in many capacities. She taught quilting at the church, made baby blankets to be taken on missionary trips to the Appalachian Mountains every year, and enjoyed cooking for the many covered dish dinners held at the church. Mrs. Sexton always enjoyed reading.
She is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann S. Hickman of Richmond, VA.; granddaughter, Jo Anna Hickman of Bloomsbury, NJ.; grandson, Robert Hickman of Richmond, VA.; niece Marylie Schmidt of Dacula, GA.; great-niece, Susan Caldwell of Athens, GA; and her dear friends R.J. and Connie Floyd of Clio.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sexton was predeceased by her husband, Harry William Sexton; stepdaughter, Virginia Nifong; and stepson, Edward Sexton.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Welsh Neck Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Roger Williams, and R.J. Floyd officiating. The family will receive friends at Rogers Funeral Home prior to the service from 1 to 2 PM.
