Shirley Tyner Cummings

 Mrs. Shirley Tyner Cummings, 72, passed away February 27, 2018 at Morrison Manor.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM, March 2, 2018 at McColl Church of God followed by burial in Rogers Cemetery.

Born August 28, 1945 in Robeson County, she was a daughter of Etta B. Sampson Tyner and the late Wheeler June Tyner.  She had retired from Oak River after 38 years of service and was a member of the McColl Church of God.

Shirley was a loving mother to her family and enjoyed spending time working in her yard.  She also loved to travel which showed by visiting several states and cruises.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: husband, R.C. Cummings of the home; mother, Etta B. Tyner of Maxton, NC; son, Nathaniel Chavis of McColl; daughters, Annie Jane Gray and Marilyn Chavis both of McColl; brother, David E. Tyner (Joyce) of Maxton; sisters, Bonnie Locklear (Cleve) of Rowland, Nancy Oxendine of Maxton; grandchildren, Jacqueline Chavis Travis Gray, Bryan Langley, Brenson Chavis, Heather Langley, Raymond Brogle, David Sprague, Jr., Wayne Owens, William Owens, Devan Owens; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by: children, Michael G. Chavis, Orenda Maccey, Mary Joyce Patterson; and a brother, Marshall Tyner.

A visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM to Thursday, March 1, 2018 at McColl Church of God.
