Aileen (Rowell) Meggs

Aileen Rowell Meggs, age 91 of Bennettsville, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, after an extended illness.

Aileen was born on August 23, 1931, in Conway, SC, a daughter of the late James and Aletha Rowell.

Aileen was a longtime resident at Oakwood Manor in Bennettsville. She worked several years at Oak River Mills. She also worked at the Burger Shop in McColl. Aileen was a former Sunday School teacher at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bennettsville for twenty-five years. She faithfully attended Bennettsville Emanuel Holiness Church until her health declined. She served the church as Missions Director for several years. Aileen loved to laugh and had a big sense of humor. She also loved to cook. Most of all, Aileen enjoyed gathering and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Aileen was preceded in death by her husband, William Alfred Meggs; a son, Mitchell Meggs; two daughters, Terri Meggs and Alice Meggs Smith; brothers, WC Rowell and Delane Rowell; sisters, Gladys Deal and Estalene Morrison.

Aileen is survived by a son, Larry Meggs of Gibson; daughter, Shane LaBean (Donald) of Bluffton, SC; her grandchildren, Travis Meggs, Keith Smith, Jeff Smith, Kim Chavis, Christopher Canady, Josh LaBean, and Alena Horton; several great and great great grandchildren; a special friend, Cathy; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel. A private interment will take place at a later time.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service.
