Alene (Smith) Roller

Alene Smith Roller, age 82 of McColl, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at McLeod Hospice House.

Alene was born on February 16, 1942, in Clio, SC. She was a daughter of the late James Henry and Ella Mae Locklear Smith. Alene loved being outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her yard, and fishing. She enjoyed canning and doing crossword puzzles. Alene also loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Alene was preceded in death by her husband, Fuller Roller; a granddaughter, Tracy Roller; two great grandchildren, Easton Roller and Quan Cole; a brother, Albert Smith.

Alene is survived by her sons, Ronald Smith (Beverly) of McColl, Donald Roller of McColl, and Nicholas Smith (Sherry) of Laurinburg; a daughter, Sandra Platt (James) of Bennettsville; brothers, Elmer Smith (Annie Ruth), Pete Smith (Janice), and Percy Smith (Virginia), all of McColl; sisters, Mary Goins of Hamlet, NC and Jessie Lee Bryant of McColl; ten grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; a special caregiver, Frankie Parker of Bennettsville; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.

A service to celebrate Alene’s life will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Daniel’s Chapel Holiness Church. Burial will follow the service at Rogers Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home.
