Billy Dean Chavis, age 69 of McColl, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, at his residence.

Billy was born March 4, 1956, in Laurinburg, NC. He was a son of the late William L. and Annie Ruth Clark Chavis. Billy worked as a carpenter. He enjoyed being outside and around the water. Billy enjoyed hunting and fishing. He often liked to be by himself, yet he was always willing to help anybody he could. Billy will be remembered as a good-hearted person who loved his family.

In addition to his parents. Billy was preceded in by a son, Lonnie Joe Brigman; his sisters, Kathy Chavis, Debbie Chavis, and Jackie Chavis.

Billy is survived by his wife, Sally Smith Chavis of McColl; his sons, William L. Chavis III and Shannon Dwayne Brigman, both of McColl; a daughter, Dena Dawn Brigman of McColl; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Rogers Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Pee Dee Chapel Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
