Cynthia Walker Rothwell of McColl, SC passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg. She was 68 years old.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the McColl Penticostal Holiness Church and will be officiated by Pastor D.J. Byrd. There will be a private committal at a later date. The family will be visiting with friends and neighbors at the church one hour prior to the service.
Cynthia was born October 4, 1947 to the late Chester Walker and the late Phillinease McWethy Walker in Chualar, CA. She spent her working career in the food service industry as a waitress and bartender. Cynthia loved life. She loved to crochet and was the best Mexican cook north of the border; enchiladas and potato soup were her family’s favorites. She was an avid reader of romance novels and who-done-it crime and mystery books. Cynthia was also a green thumb who loved flowers and working in the yard. She loved animals as well, especially her cats, TJ and Little Bit. And she loved to laugh and could find humor in any situation.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents. To cherish her memory she leaves behind a son, James Gresham and wife Sylvia of Eugene, OR; two daughters, Elizabeth Cornell and husband Patrick of Salinas, CA and Danielle Grooms and husband Joe of McColl, SC; a foster daughter, Theresa Lee of Salinas, CA; a sister, Brenda Selva of Chualar, CA; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of loved ones, neighbors and friends.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Rogers Funeral Home at PO Box 38, McColl, SC 29570 to assist with funeral expenses.
