David Lee Modlin

David Lee Modlin, age 65 of McColl, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 22, 2026.

David was born July 17, 1960, in Tokyo, Japan. He was a son of Joyce Bain Modlin and the late Richard Modlin. David was a graduate of Francis Marion University. He worked for many years at the Department of Social Services as a social worker. He also had a love for music. More than anything, David enjoyed his time spent with family and friends.

In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by brothers; John Young, Tom Young, and Richard “Rick” Modlin, Jr.; and a sister, Debbie Streett.

David is survived by his daughter, Dina Knight (Dale) of Elgin; his granddaughter, Camila Knight of Elgin; his mother, Joyce Bain Modlin of McColl; a brother, Mike Young of Mullins; a brother in law, Wayne Streett of Marysville, TN; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.

David’s family would also like to send a special thank you to his friends, Jerry and Tammie Dukes.

The family is planning a memorial service for a later date.

The family requests that any memorial donations be sent in David’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church of McColl, 301 S. Main Street McColl, SC 29570.
