David Campbell Rodgers

David Campbell Rodgers, age 79 of McColl, passed away on June 8, 2022 at his residence after an extended illness.

David was born January 15, 1943 in McColl, SC. He was a son of the late James William and Mary Singleton Rodgers. David was a workaholic. He spent countless hours working at his convenient store, David’s Grocery. David also worked as a tax preparer. On an occasional day off, David enjoyed fishing and golf. He also loved his cats, especially his beloved “Baby.” David was also an avid “timekeeper.” He was always watching the time on his watch. Most of all, David enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents listed above and a brother, James W. Rodgers, Jr.

David is survived by his loving wife, Barbara J. Rodgers of the home; sons, Campbell Rodgers (Gina) of Raleigh, NC and Kevin Rodgers of McColl; sisters, Jimmie Ann White and Mary Catherine Rodgers, both of McColl; a brother, Joe Rodgers of Tatum; grandchildren, Daphne Rodgers, Emily Rodgers, and Holden Rodgers; mother in law, Myrtle Bowen of Bennettsville; sister in law, Phyllis Ransom of McColl; nieces, Cassidy Ransom of Florida and Kim Fowler of Bennettsville; several other extended family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Rogers Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
