David “Tom” Stock, age 87 of McColl, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, after an illness.
David was born July 22, 1937, in Detroit, MI. He was lovingly raised by the late Pa and Ma Heinrich. David was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was also a member of the American Legion. David was a hard worker. He worked as a customer service representative for Emerson Electric for over forty years, until his retirement. David was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed restoring old tractors and building things. David was a founding member of McColl Rescue Squad. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Most of all, David was a Godly man who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed spending time with all his family, especially his great grandchild, Elaina Drew.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his four siblings.
David is survived by his loving wife of sixty four years, Edna Cheek Stock, of the home; daughters, Suzanne Stock Sumner of Bennettsville, and Heather Reynolds of Angier, NC; grandchildren, Shelby Reynolds, Clarissa Reynolds, Emily Reynolds and David Thomas Sumner; one great granddaughter, Elaina Drew; a special person David loved as a grandson, Alan Sylvia; several nieces and nephews throughout Michigan and Ohio; and members of the Cheek Family.
A service to celebrate David’s life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Main Street Methodist Church.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Main Street Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in David’s honor to the Atrium Health Foundation Carolinas Leukemia Research Fund www.atriumhealthfoundation.org. Or Boys Town www.boystown.org.
