Deborah “Debbie” Powell Petit, age 48 of McColl, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Debbie was born on November 24, 1976, in Cheraw. She was a daughter of Audrey Cook Powell and the late Edward Powell. Debbie was known as a people person. She enjoyed decorating her home, listening to music, traveling to the beach, and Halloween. Debbie worked at home, doing what she loved. She also loved her cats. More than anything, Debbie loved her family, especially her son, Jay.

In addition to her father, Debbie was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Powell.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Walter Petit of Blenheim; her son, Jay Petit (Amber) of McColl; mother, Audrey Cook Powell of Cheraw; sisters, Judy Powell Jones of Columbia, Sharon Sampson (William) of Laurel Hill, NC, and Janice Palmer (Harold) of Ohio; grandson, Sawyer Jay Petit; a very special niece and nephew, Robyn Roscoe and Phillip Walden; great niece and nephew, Alyssa Bumgardner and Anthony Roscoe; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members also survive.

A memorial service to celebrate Debbie’s life will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. at Rogers Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.

The family will also be accepting visitors at the home of her son, Jay, 1937 Petit Lane McColl, SC.
