Mrs. Dorine C. Locklear, age 85 formerly of Clio, SC, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, at her residence after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family.
She was married to the love of her life, Neville C. Locklear, Sr. for 66 years. Dorine was born in Dunbar, SC on February 7, 1939, to the late Gordon H. and Lucreatie Jacobs Clark. She was a graduate of McColl High School in 1957. She worked in textiles for over 40 years, retiring from Anvil Knit Wear. Dorine was the first female Chief of the Pee Dee Indian Tribe for several years and was proud of her Native heritage. She was a devoted member of Berea Methodist Church, where she actively and faithfully served for over 60 years. She was a member of Helping Hands, a Berea Community group for over 50 years. She loved her church, her church family, a was a devoted Christian and loyal care giver. Dorine truly enjoyed taking care of her family and always looked forward to Sunday dinners with them. She loved to talk and give good hugs and if she didn’t know you, she knew your people and could take you several generations down your family tree. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and made several beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. She loved taking pictures and always had a camera in her hand and rolls of film in her pocket. Dorine loved to travel with her husband, family and friends with visits to 45 states, 2 countries, and 3 territories.
She was preceded in death by her parents listed above, grandson, Terrell Jacob Pate; brothers, W.C. Clark and Alton “Bunny” Clark; sister, Craddie Lee Clark Lewellen.
Dorine leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; husband of 66 years, Neville C. Locklear, Sr.; son, Neville C. Locklear, Jr. and wife Sheila; daughter, Lora Jean Pate and husband Bill; 3 grandchildren, Ashley Pate, Jacob Locklear, and Chris Thompson; 5 great grandchildren, Talee Pate, Lakota Pate, Kayleigh Pate, Jace Locklear, Delilah Pate, and a special extended great grandson Jesiah Harrington.
A funeral service will be held 3pm, Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Berea Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Emily Davis, will burial in Priest Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Rogers Funeral Home in McColl, SC.
