Doris Higgins Boatwright, 67, wife of James “Brunson” Boatwright, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2023. Mrs. Boatwright was born in Waynesville, NC to Irene Honeycutt Higgins Christopher and the late Landon Higgins. She was a member of Burnsville Church of God. Doris and Brunson were high school sweet hearts and were married for 49 years. She served the Lord as a pastor’s wife, and as a musician. She enjoyed gardening and camping. In her later years she and her husband maintained and hosted fellow campers at Toe River Campgroup. Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are two sons, Joshua Boatwright (Wanda) and Gabel Boatwright; a brother, Wayne Higgins (Treda); a sister, June Johnson; two brothers- in-law, Herb Boatwright and Dale Boatwright; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Alea, Jacob, Kaylee, and Isabel Doris Boatwright; and five great-grandchildren, Junior, Josh, Destiny, Nevaeh and Annabelle Boatwright. A Celebration of Doris’ Life will be 5 o’clock Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends an hour prior. Burial will be 3 o’clock Monday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
