Mrs. Faye Strickland McGuirt, 90, passed away peacefully at Scotia Village in Laurinburg, NC on July 30, 2024.
Faye was born on June 25, 1934, in Hartsville, SC, to the late William Abraham Strickland and Frances Elizabeth “Lizzie” Nesbitt.
She is survived by her son, Indy Broach of Bostic, NC; three daughters Myra (Lee) Cashwell of Cheraw, SC, Karan (Jeff) Forman of West Jefferson, NC, and Virginia (Randy) Page of Wilmington, NC; eleven grandchildren, Bill, Jessica, Shawn, Beth, Keri, Chad, Mallory, David, Lee, Caroline, and Ben; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; siblings, Laura Stokes, Michael Strickland, Oral Strickland, and Naomi Hallman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry “Russell” McGuirt who died in 2012 and late husband Aaron Broach who died in 1957.
As a mother, Faye instilled values of kindness, resilience, and hard work. She retired as a registered nurse with Mecklenburg County in the school setting. She was devoted to continuing her education to be a knowledgeable nurse who was dedicated to caring for others.
After retiring, she and her husband Henry “Russell” McGuirt returned to the family farm in McColl, SC, where they built a new house on the site of his childhood home. Faye was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of McColl.
We would like to thank the staff at Scotia Village Retirement Community for the care they gave to Faye while she was a resident there for many years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church of McColl. A burial will follow the service at Tatum Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 3, 2024, prior to the service, beginning at 10:15 a.m. at first Presbyterian Church of McColl.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Faye’s honor to First Presbyterian Church of McColl 301 S. Main Street McColl, SC 29570.
