Mrs. Gerald Adaline Lewellen, widow of George R. Lewellen, passed away Thursday, December 05, 2019 at her residence after an illness. She was 84 years old.
Mrs. Gerald was born in Laurinburg, NC on July 20, 1935 to the late John Arch and Myrtie Lee Roberts Shoemake. She was a lifelong member of Fletcher’s Chapel in McColl. She worked with JP Steven, which later became West Point Stevens, until her retirement. She enjoyed going to church, singing in the choir, and spending time with her family.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; sons, Richard Lewellen and wife Linda of McColl and George Lewellen and wife Carolyn of McColl; brother, Billy Shoemake and wife JoAnn; grandchildren. Richie Lewellen and wife Tiffany and Amy Hunt and husband Chad; great grandchildren, Kamreigh Ransom, Eli Lewellen, and Liam Lewellen.
Mrs. Gerald was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above; son, John Thomas Lewellen; daughter, Teresa Diane Lewellen; brother, James Earl Shoemake; sisters. Naomi Carolyn Shoemake Locklear and Bernice Beach.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Fletcher’s Chapel in McColl, with burial in Beaverdam Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1-2 pm at the church just prior to the service.
