Mrs. Gertrude Carter Springs, widow of George Lloyd Springs, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg. She was 92 years old.

Mrs. Springs was born in McColl, SC on May 22, 1928 to the late Gaston and Callie Revels Carter. She was a member of McColl Church of God. She was an honest and giving person. She gave everyone nicknames. She enjoyed canning, crafts, sewing, cooking, and sharing her cooking with people. This led to her receiving the WBTW “Giving Your Best Award”.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; son, Rev. Jerry Springs and wife Peggy of McColl, SC; daughter, Nancy Springs Bullard and husband Kenneth of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Kristi, Chris, Jody, Joy, Jeri Lynn, Matt, Misty, Bobbie Jo, and Donna; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren; special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above; brothers, Johnny, Blanchard, and DD; sisters, Ruby, Laura, and Estelle; children, Jackie, Brenda, and Donnie; grandchildren, Dee Dee and Jerry Don.

A graveside service will be 11 am, Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Beaver Dam Cemetery, officiated by Revs., Donald Deal and David Brown.

The family would like to extend special appreciation to Dr. Glenn Harris of Scotland County Hospice, Cynthia Locklear, Mrs. Gertrude’s very special friend and home health nurse, and the staff at Scottish Pines for all the love and care giving to Mrs. Gertrude over the years.
