Hugh Douglas “HD” Locklear, age 72 of McColl, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at his residence.

HD was born in Bennettsville on July 12, 1950. He was a son of the late Willie R. and Mary Etta Clark Locklear. HD attended Hickory Grove Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. HD also enjoyed doing mechanic work, fishing, and building things. He worked as a truck driver until his retirement. Most of all, HD enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings; Willie R. Locklear, Jr., Patty Jo Locklear, and Jeri Lynn Locklear.

HD is survived by his wife, Brenda C. Locklear of the home; a son, John Douglas Locklear of Rockingham, NC; daughters, Jacquelyn Locklear of Bennettsville, Chastity Locklear Carter of Fayetteville, NC, and Amy Leviner (Brian) of Hamlet, NC; brothers, James David Locklear of McColl and John Randall Locklear of Clio; sisters, Mary Freeman (Mitchell) of Wallace and Emma Heffner of Clio; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several other extended family members also survive.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Hickory Grove Church in Clio at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home.
