Kathryn Elizabeth Bullard dedicated her life to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.
Through her life and ministry, God blessed countless individuals around the world.
Kathryn was born and raised in Gibson, North Carolina. After attending business school
and Mars Hill College, Kathryn began a life of service. She spent 16 years as the
Baptist Women Director for North Carolina’s WMU (Women’s Missionary Union), then
served as the Executive Director-Treasurer of WMU of Virginia from 1975 until her
retirement in 1992.
During her years with WMU, Kathryn led conferences and prayer retreats and spoke at
churches across the US and in Europe and Asia. She wrote for WMU publications,
trained women in missions and ministry and inspired a four hundred percent increase in
missions giving. Together with her longtime ministry assistant and friend, Emma
Hutchins, Kathryn established Camp Little CrossRoads in Lowesville, Virginia, which
opened debt-free in 1985 and continues to be a space for individuals to experience
God.
In 1982, the University of Richmond recognized Kathryn for significant service and effort
and for exemplifying the spiritual ideals of the University. In 1987, the University of
Richmond awarded Kathryn an Honorary Degree, Doctor of Humane Letters.
Following her retirement, Kathryn remained active in the local church and in mission
endeavors. She was a beloved member of Gayton Baptist Church in Richmond, where
she was a mentor and friend to many. Notwithstanding her significant
accomplishments, Kathryn was a humble and caring woman who took the time to invest
in personal relationships and to love people well.
On Friday, September 16th, Kathryn departed this world to be welcomed into the arms
of the Lord she served so faithfully. Her legacy of service, love and friendship will
remain for many years to come.

A graveside service will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery in Gibson, NC 28343 on
September 27, 2022 at 2 PM. A celebration of life will be held at Gayton Baptist Church on
October 9, 2022 at 3 PM.
