Ms. Lillis "Jackie" Mathis, age 49, passed away peacefully on Friday , March 6, 2015 at the Morrison Manor in Laurinburg, NC, surrounded by her loving family after a long illness.
Born in Marlboro County, SC, on May 26, 1965, she was the daughter of the late Gordon C. Crowley and Mary Ann Crowley Grant. Ms. Mathis attended Marlboro County Schools and was a former employee of Sara Lee Hosiery. She also graduated from the Ken Shular School of Cosmetology and was a licensed cosmetologist. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister and aunt who loved spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies were reading and doing art work.
She is survived by her children, Shanna Renee Knoll (Jason) of Concord, NC and Jerry Wayne Gray (Jolene) of Green Cove Springs, Florida; by grandchildren, Jacob, Tristan, Reily, Lil Jerry and Lil Bobby; by sisters, Phyllis Hatcher (Charlie) of Bennettsville, Mary Miller (Jimmy) of Clio, Jan Staples (Scott) of Green Cove Springs, Florida; and by a brother, Steven Ray Quick of Sarasota, Florida; grandmother, Ms. Marjorie Kierce of St. Augustine, Florida; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Cindy Rothwell and the residents of Breckinridge Apartments in McColl.
A memorial service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be held 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Fletcher’s Chapel Wesleyan Church officiated by Pastor Andy Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her parents listed above and by her sister, Patricia Ann Parker.
