Linda Chavis ,65, of McColl, SC, passed away at her residence, Wednesday, October 10, 2024, with her family by her side.

She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 25, 1958. She was raised by James Thomas and Evelyn Wilkins Chavis of Maxton, NC. She graduated from Maxton High School, the class of 1976. She then went on to further her education and became a beautician. In 1983 she had her first child, Gavin, and went to work at Converse in Lumberton, NC, for 6 years. In 1989, she gave birth to her 2nd child, Amelia. She was later employed with several local textile and manufacturing companies until Amelia reached the point where she needed a full-time care giver. Linda was such a loving and nurturing mother. She loved taking care of her children, going to the movies, watching TV, listening to music, and having a good time. She also loved spending time and making fond memories with her friends. She enjoyed attending Oak Hill Church of God, in McColl, SC, for several years of her life. She had such a friendly personality and never met a stranger. To know her was to love her. She will always be greatly missed.

Linda is survived by her son: Gavin Chavis of Lumberton, NC; sister, Brenda Tagliani; nephew, James Tagliani; niece, Marie Davenport; 1 great-niece and 1 great-nephew all of Florida; God children, Bethany Edwards and Braycen Garner and special granddaughter, Amelianna Pate, all of McColl, SC.; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above and daughter, Ameila Locklear.

A graveside service will be held 3pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Rogers Cemetery in McColl, SC, officiated by Rev. Brian Oxendine. The family will receive friends after the graveside service.
