Surrounded by her loving family, Lydia Jane Clark Sweatt passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at her residence. She was 95 years old.

Born in McColl, SC, Lydia was a daughter of the late Douglas and Sara Margaret Bryant Clark. She attended the McColl Church of God. Lydia was a homemaker and enjoyed visiting with people and taking care of children.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above; husband, Ernest Sweatt Sr; sons, Kirby and Tony Sweatt; grandchildren, Jerry Rae Sweatt, Buddy Sweatt, Cameron Baxley, Samiya Hatcher, Heaven Hatcher; brothers, Tommy and Johnny Clark; and sister, Maryetta Locklear.

Lydia is survived by her sons, Ernest Sweatt Jr (Bessie) and Billy Sweatt (Ella); daughters, Betty Jean Sweatt, Pauline Jordan (Charles), Margaret Ovino, Sylvia Hatcher, Crystal Sweatt (James), and Tammy Wilson (David); grandchildren, Keith Sweatt (Reva), Paula Sweatt, James Sweatt, Christopher Wilson ( Leticia ), Gail Peterkin (Cameron), Amy Hatcher, Ronnie Hatcher (Daphne), Ricky Lee Hatcher (Amanda), Brad Sweatt, Melissa Sweatt (Derrick), Sharon Bullard, Lorie Pierce (Keith), Deborah Hunt (Wilbert), Shannon Deputy, Billy Stevens, Billy Sweatt (Terri), Lydia Lowry (Keith), Christopher Sweatt (Tracie), Terry Lee Sweatt, Chelsea Ovino (Darnell), and Pamela Duncan (Hilton); brother, Douglas Clark Jr.; sister, Geneva Caulder; 52 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2024, at Rogers Funeral Home, followed by burial in Rogers Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., just prior to the service.
