Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Thompson

Mary Kathryn “Kathy” Thompson Owens went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 6, 2022.  Kathy was 73 years old.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Sally Ruth Thompson; her husband, Russell Owens; her brother, Wayne Thompson, wife Shirley and nephew Jay, brother Tommy Thompson and wife, Lela.

Kathy was a long-time resident of McColl, SC, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church there.  She retired from Mcleod Hospital after 23 years of dedicated service as a medical transcriptionist.  She will always be remembered as a caring and loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.  Her kind heart and jolly nature were always in the forefront despite the many medical challenges she faced in life.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister, Carol (her other mother) and brother-in-law, Ross Patterson; sister-in-law, Cheryl Price; 8 nieces and nephews; 14 great nieces and nephews; 7 great-great nieces and nephews; 4 grandchildren by marriage; a host of extended family and friends; and special cousin, Jeanette Thompson Strickland.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at McColl First Presbyterian Church at 301 S. Main Street, McColl, SC  29570 on Saturday, February 12th at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Kathy’s memory to Morrison Manor, 610 Lauchwood Drive, Laurinburg, NC  28352.
