Nancie Lee Johnson, age 81, of Laurinburg, North Carolina, passed away peacefully with her son by her side on May 31, 2026.
Born on March 22, 1945, in Georgetown, South Carolina, to the late Gordon and Naomi Outlaw Johnson. Nancie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family. She was known for her strong spirit, quick wit, and ability to bring a smile to those around her. Nancy enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with family and friends. She never hesitated to speak her mind, and her humor and colorful conversations will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her. Nancie was also a dedicated member of the McColl Rescue Squad for over ten years. She served as an EMT and devoted many years of leadership as Captain of the rescue squad, faithfully serving her community and those in need.
Nancie was preceded in death by her daughter, Elisa Evers; her parents listed above; and her brothers, Carl Johnson and Jerry Johnson.
She is survived by her son, Darryl Evers (Rae); her grandchildren, Andrew Norton (Beth), Dr. Matthew Evers (Neely), Leanne Evers and Jacob Evers; her great-grandchildren, Braylon Norton, Gradin Norton, Avery Norton, Libby Evers, Clara Evers, Mckinley Evers, and Lincoln Evers. Nancie’s greatest joy was her family.
She treasured the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, service, and cherished memories.
A visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Rogers Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Rogers Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Rogers Cemetery.
Nancie will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
