Nellie Jackson Obituary

McColl, SC

Nellie Nicholson Jackson departed this life to her eternal home after a brief illness on May 11, 2019. She was 85 years old.

Born in McColl on September 22, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Daisy McCaskill Nicholson. She was a devoted member of the McColl Church of God until her health declined. She continued to pray for them faithfully in her absence. She retired under her husband’s ministry through the Church of God. She devoted her life fully to the Ministry of Jesus Christ, traveling with her husband, Brother James Poe Jackson, the span of 23 states and Canada for him to preach the gospel from a stretcher. During their preaching ministry of over 30 years they were a dynamic duo, converting thousands to Christ. She loved working for the Lord and telling people about the love of Jesus. Though she had no biological children, she had a special love for them. She was a people person and loved being with people. She could and would strike up a conversation with anyone because she never met a stranger. She had a deep love for animals, especially her former dog, Zac. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above; brother, Richard Nicholson; and sister, Carolyn Jensen.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: brother, Eugene Nicholson of Rock Hill, SC; nephew, Terry Nicholson of McColl, SC; cousin, Bobby Flowers of McColl, SC; daughter by affection, Heather Johnson of McColl, SC; and other beloved family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at McColl Church of God, followed by a private committal at Rogers Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. just prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Feed the Children, 333 N. Meridian, Oklahoma City, OK 73107.
