Rebecca “Bet” Prevatte Grooms, 70, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at her residence.

Born March 25, 1953, in Maxton, NC, she was a daughter of the late J.D. and Bertha Lee Chavis Prevatte. Mrs. Bet was a member of the McColl Church of God. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and raising babies.

Mrs. Bet was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Joseph and James Prevatte.

She is survived by her husband, Dewey Luther Grooms; son, James Clayton Grooms (Jessica) of McColl; daughter, Becky Clark (Tommy) of McColl; brothers, Jay Prevatte, Roy Prevatte (Mollie), and William Prevatte, all of McColl; sister, Velma Bailey of McColl; grandchildren, Alicia Clark (David), T.J. Clark (Maggie), and Nakoma Grooms (Kaytie); great-grandchildren, Ryan Barlow, Louie Clark, Mannix Locklear, Madelyn Locklear, and Tyler Clark.
