Virginia Elizabeth (Bridgeman) Locke

Virginia Elizabeth Bridgeman Locke, age 94 passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, after an extended illness.

Virginia was born April 5, 1928, in Arcadia, SC. She was a daughter of the late Ervin Wesley and Stella Murle Bridgeman. Virginia was a member at Oak Island Presbyterian Church. She retired after twenty five years from the Internal Revenue Service. Virginia enjoyed traveling with her late husband. They traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, and Europe. Virginia loved to play and sing around the piano with her family and friends. She was a second mom to her niece. Virginia will always be remembered as a selfless, loving, caring person, who do anything for anybody.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, James Hubbard “Hub” Locke; her brothers, Boyce Bridgeman , Arthur Bridgeman, and Joe Bridgeman; sisters, Ila Petrosi, Beulah Smith, Ethel Gaddy, Anne Wills, and Coleen Carmichael.

Virginia is survived by her sons, James Hubbard Locke, Jr. "Susan" of Oak Island, NC, and Mark Gregory Locke of Elon, NC; a brother, Jim Bridgeman of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, James Christopher Locke, Katherine Virginia Barker, Ethan Locke, Austin Fleming, and Lauren Fleming; great grandchildren, Henry Locke, Ila Locke, and Virginia Barker. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service in Rogers Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday at Rogers Funeral Home.
