Billy C. Lightsinger, Jr.

A tragic accident claimed the life of Billy C. Lightsinger, Jr. Tuesday morning, July 19, 2016 in Bennettsville, SC.  He was 50 years old and was a resident of McColl.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, July 22, 2016 at the McColl Church of God and will be officiated by Rev. Brian Oxendine with Rev. Hazel Smith assisting.  Interment will follow at Rogers Cemetery.  There will be a time of remembrance and visitation Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, also at the church.

Billy was born on Monday, May 30, 1966 to the late Billy C. Lightsinger and the late Shirley Davis Lightsinger in Cumberland County, NC.  He worked as a mechanic on the machines at Mohawk Carpet and was a skilled luthier in his spare time.  Not only did Billy work on guitars but he was a fantastic musician as well and played lead guitar and bass for several local gospel groups over the years..  He also enjoyed playing golf, especially with his son, Adam.  Billy was a wonderful father and husband and the kind of friend that friends need to have. He was a long-time member of the McColl Church of God and his love and ministry touched more lives than he ever realized.

The same tragedy that claimed Billy’s life also claimed the life of his son, Adam.  He was also preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Davis Lightsinger.

To carry his memories forward Billy leaves with us his wife of almost 26 years, Kimberly Scott Lightsinger, and a daughter Lyndsey Lightsinger, both of the home; his mother-in-law, Pat Mumford Scott of McColl; a sister-in-law, Pam Grooms and husband Sampson (Bo); two nieces, Crystal and Brittany Grooms, a host of nephews and nieces and unnumbered friends and relatives who will miss him dearly.
