Leroy David Norris

Leroy “Roy” David Norris departed this life Tuesday morning, July 26, 2016 at the Chesterfield Convalescent Home in Cheraw, SC.  He was 98 years old. 

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the McColl Church of God and will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Roy Puckett.  Interment will follow at Rogers Cemetery.  There will be a time of visitation and remembrance with the family just prior to the service from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, also at the church. 

Mr. Norris was born in Marlboro County, SC on Saturday, September 15, 1917, while World War I was still raging, to the late Leonard Norris and the late Sally Woodle Norris.  He was the oldest member of the McColl Church of God.  During his working career Mr. Norris was a loom operator in the textile industry.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed life to the fullest. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie Jones Norris; his first wife, Thelma Lane Norris (1994); a son, David Norris (1966); a daughter, Kathleen Norris Cartrette (2000); a grandson Richard Harold Norris, Jr. (2013); two brothers, Frank Norris and Steve Woodle, and three sisters Evelyn Byrd, Edna Norris, and Rena Norris.

To cherish his memory he leaves with us two sons, Richard Norris and wife Linda of McColl and Marshall Norris and wife Judy of Bessemer City, NC; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces that will miss him dearly.
