Robert was born March 10, 1962 in Marlboro County, SC to the late Bracey Strickland and the late Martha Jane Cribb Strickland.  He spent his working years as a mechanic in the textile industry, mostly at JP Stevens.  Robert  loved spending chilly Sunday afternoons watching football and the Washington Redskins were his team.  He began teaching himself karate at the age of nine by watching Bruce Lee and Billy Jack movies.  But children were Robert’s passion.  He adored his own grandchildren but any child could steal his heart.  Robert would do anything to make a child laugh, whether it involved a silly wig or piggy-back rides.

In addition to his parents Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Bracey Edward Strickland (1989) and a sister, Carol Carter (2012).
