Jimmy Troy Norton

Jimmy Troy Norton departed this life peacefully on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg, NC.  He was 52 years old.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the McColl Church of God and will be officiated by Rev. Jackie Jacobs.  Interment will follow at the Norton Family Cemetery at 204 W. Tatum Ave., following services.  There will be a time of visitation Monday, December 28, 2015 at the church from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Troy was born September 4, 1963 in Marlboro County, SC to the late Jimmy Lee Norton and Shirley Lee Norton.  He loved everything there was to love about cars and motors.  Working on’em, drivin’em, racing his heart out, and he even made his living by selling cars.  Troy knew how to make a hustle and what many people called trash he saw as treasure and he could make a profit on anything.  The Denver Broncos were Troy’s team and Dale Earnhardt was his favorite NASCAR driver.  All of that being said, there was nothing he loved more than his grandchildren and his two nephews.

In addition to his father Troy was preceded in death by his step-son, Matthew Brayboy. 

To carry forth his legacy he leaves behind his wife of 17 years, Johanna Floyd Norton; a son, Andrew “Andy” Norton and wife Beth of McColl; three daughters, Alissa Brayboy of Fairmont, Lori Jo Brayboy of Bennettsville, and Elizabeth “LeeLee” Norton of McColl;  his mother, Shirley Lee Norton of McColl; a sister, Tammy Norton Anderson and husband Sam of McColl; twelve grandchildren; two nephews he loved as sons, Jonathan and Caleb Norris, as well as a host of loved ones, neighbors, and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Scotland Cancer Center located at 500 Lauchwood Dr., Laurinburg, NC 28352.
