Mr. Donnie Wayne Springs, age 62, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Lake Butler, Florida after an illness.

Born in Scotland County, NC, on November 5, 1953, he was the son of Mrs. Gertrude Carter Springs and the late George Lloyd Springs. He was a 1972 graduate of McColl High School and was a former Security Guard. In his earlier years, he attended the McColl Church of God. In his later years, Donnie was faithful to his God and is now at rest in his Heavenly home. He was a devoted son and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Donnie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and received an honorable discharge on July 13, 1979 with the rank of E2. He received the following awards and decorations; The National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, M-16 Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.

Donnie is survived by his mother, Mrs. Gertrude C. Springs of Laurinburg, NC; one daughter, Donna Springs Brooks of McColl, SC; two grandsons, Justin and Brandon Brooks of McColl; a great-granddaughter, Maddyx; a sister, Nancy S. Bullard (Kenneth) of Kernersville, NC; a brother, Rev. Jerry Springs (Peggy) of McColl, SC ; and by a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at the McColl Church of God officiated by Rev. Dr. Roy Puckett and Rev. Jerry Springs. Burial, with military honors will follow at Beaverdam Cemetery in McColl. The family will receive friends from 2:30 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the church prior the funeral service on Friday.

Donnie was preceded in death by his father listed above; by a brother, Jackie Springs and by a sister Brenda Springs Lockey.
